| | My Son and the Michael Jackson Jacket | | Okay, well we all know our own kids are angels, and other peoples' are brats. My son was pretty good out in public and when he misbehaved, it was only for me. But there was one time when he blew his mind out loud in a store, and he was seven. We all know that is way too old for a child to have a fit in a store. But this. . .this was a vitally important item he was not allowed to have and boy was he pisssed! I had taken him out shopping for his winter coat. We needed something nice and warm, economical but heavy duty as it does get cold here and occasionally snow. Well, Devin spied a jacket and man did he want the thing. It was the height of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" popularity, although before this jacket thing I didn't know my son was such a big fan! This jacket was not a practical winter coat, lol. It was bright red and shiny and had zippers all over it. Can you SEE a seven year old in that jacket? It was too expensive and not a winter coat and I simply was not going to get it for him. Like I said, his head practically exploded. ..MAN his temper blew because he could not have that thing -- and in public! I was so mad and so embarrassed at the same time. Now he... | |
| | What was popular when you were a kid? | | What was popular when you were growing up. FOr me it was roller skates that looked like sneakers, shiny disco pocketbooks and clothes. They had albums and cassettes were big too. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. The only technology we had was the Atari video system. I LOVED THAT! Kissing Potion lip gloss had just come out by Mabeline. I loved the mint. As for clothes, When I was in elementary it was courdoroys and earth shoes. When I got to middle and high school it was the Michael Jackson Thriller jackets for all!! I was such a cornball!!! Michael Jackson was the biggest star in the world! It seems like yesterday. Now the things my daughter asks for are nothing like the things I liked. I wish things were still like that. WHat about you? What was it like when you were younger? | |

pieces and gave others away when he moved to a smaller house in
2002, but he continued to...
| | algorithm dancing | | I was one of the millions who have seen the video of 1,600 inmates dancing to the tune of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" uploaded on Youtube, a video sharing website.
The algorithm dance uplifts the spirit of the prisoners and foster camaraderie between inmates and jail officials. The exercise is productive and promising.
| | Inmates spend dancing the days away.... | | I have enjoyed watching the vidoes. I didnt think of it ever possible but I have seen it and I am proud to be a Filipino.(7/26/07) - The prisoners at Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center may have seen "Jailhouse Rock" a few too many times.
Hundreds of inmates at the prison in Cebu, Philippines, have taken to performing large-scale dance numbers to such classics as Michael Jackson's "Thriller," Queen's "Radio Gaga" and several songs from the "Sister Act" films to help pass the time while serving sentences or awaiting trial. "There's a time to dance and a time to sing," said chief administrator Patrick Rubio of the Directorate of Operations within the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in the Philippines. "If they say laughter is the best medicine, how much more for dancing?" Rubio said.
Showing off the Talent
According to an eyewitness account of the facility by Adam Jasper of Vice magazine's Web site Viceland.com, the detention center is run by Byron F. Garcia, who posted videos of several of the dance numbers on YouTube to show off his prisoners' talent.
The most popular of the nine videos is the prison's reenactment of Michael Jackson's classic video...
| | The Dancing Inmates | | The latest viral sensation are videos shot in the prison yard of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Centre in the Philippines, which show several large-scale dance routines with impressive choreography.
The latest release features around 1500 prisoners acting out the trademark zombie routine from Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ music video clip. The clip has had over 600,000 hits so far.
The amazing thing is this was only a practice run.
I hope you enjoy watching this practice video.
